Covasant Technologies inaugurates AI Innovation Centre in Hyderabad

Hyderabad, Dec 1 (UNI) Covasant Technologies has opened its new AI Innovation Centre at Atria, International Tech Park, Madhapur, here on Monday.
With global offices already operating in Dallas, New York, Los Angeles, London and Dubai, the new centre will focus on enterprise-scale adoption of agentic AI, enabling autonomous AI systems to address complex business challenges with built-in safety guardrails.
Telangana IT and Industries Minister Duddila Sridhar Babu, who inaugurated the facility, described it as a significant addition to Hyderabad’s expanding technology ecosystem.
He lauded Covasant CMD C V Subramanyam for growing the organisation from 18 employees to a USD 250-million company, calling him a “serial entrepreneur” who reflects the state’s innovation-driven growth story.
He said Hyderabad is now shaping its own identity as a tech hub — combining Silicon Valley-style innovation, Shenzhen-level scale and Singapore-like discipline.
The Minister said the government is prioritising skill transformation to meet the demands of AI, low-code and next-generation technologies. An AI University and AI Hub are in the works, with global academic collaboration from institutions including Stanford, Harvard, Yale and universities in London.
He noted that Hyderabad continues to attract global capability centres (GCC), with 70 GCCs established last year and more than 75 added so far this year, moving towards a target of 100. The government, he said, aims to drive Telangana toward a USD 1 trillion economy by 2035 and USD 3 trillion by 2047.
He expressed confidence that Covasant’s AI Innovation Centre will accelerate employment generation and reinforce Hyderabad’s global tech footprint.
Special Chief Secretary ITE&C and Industries & Commerce Sanjay Kumar, IAS, said Hyderabad’s rise as an innovation hub reflects the state’s strong policies, talent pool and infrastructure.
He noted that Telangana has progressed from outsourcing to knowledge-based services and now leads in GCC growth, even surpassing Bengaluru in this segment. Citing Hyderabad’s vaccine manufacturing capacity and global tech influence, he said the city has become a preferred base for companies building next-generation technology.
He added that Telangana is developing India’s largest AI Hub, aimed at placing Hyderabad among the world’s top 20 AI destinations. The initiative targets 10,000 high-value jobs by 2028 and aims to train over one crore people. The government, he said, is committed to acting as a co-creator in the technology economy rather than just a regulator.
Earlier, in his welcome address, C V Subramanyam spoke about his 40-year journey and Covasant’s growth model built on hyper-focus. Beginning in 2012 as a software testing-only organisation with 18 employees, he said discipline and clarity helped the company scale into a USD 250 million global digital assurance leader with 5,000 employees serving over 70 Fortune 500 companies.
He said Covasant is now applying the same focused strategy to AI — which he described as augmented rather than artificial intelligence.
The aim, he said, is not to replace jobs but to create digital co-workers that enhance human capability, whether assisting doctors in remote regions, supporting student learning or improving public service delivery.
He said the company’s mission aligns with Telangana’s inclusive digital growth and economic vision, adding that Covasant is hiring from local institutions and offering paid internships.
He stressed the need for responsible and governed AI systems, asserting that Covasant is building AI rooted in trust and safety. Subramanyam concluded that the goal is not a future where AI replaces people, but one where technology and humanity progress together.
