Indrajaal unveils India’s first anti-drone patrol vehicle in Hyderabad

Hyderabad, Nov 26 (UNI) Indrajaal Drone Defence on Wednesday launched India’s first Anti-Drone Patrol Vehicle (ADPV), branded “Indrajaal Ranger”, aimed at protecting both border areas and critical urban infrastructure from hostile and rogue drones.
Speaking to the media after the launch here, Indrajaal Drone Defence Co-Founder and CEO Kiran Raju said the system was conceptualised to tackle the growing threat of drones being used for weapons and drug trafficking across the border and into major cities.
“As a country, we realised it is better to be prepared than react after an incident. Every drone we stop saves Indian lives by preventing guns, drugs and explosives from entering our communities,” he said, adding that the launch date (11/26) was chosen as a tribute to innocent lives lost and security personnel who sacrificed themselves in past terror attacks.
Raju said a prototype of the Indrajaal Ranger was deployed on the border three months ago and, in just six days at one location, helped intercept about 40 drones and contraband worth nearly Rs 70 crore.
The vehicle-mounted system, which is fully self-contained without external power or communications infrastructure, can detect drones in a 10-km radius and neutralise them through a layered response — cyber takeover, electronic jamming (soft kill) and, if needed, interceptor drones (hard kill).
Designed for deployment by police, paramilitary forces and at high-value sites such as oil & gas refineries, airports and nuclear plants.
Lieutenant General Devendra Pratap Pandey (Retd), speaking as guest of honour, underlined the growing relevance of indigenous drone-defence systems in modern warfare and internal security. He said future conflicts would not be restricted to borders and warned that threats could strike deep within a nation’s heartland, targeting critical infrastructure such as refineries, data centres, airports and strategic industries.
Citing examples from the ongoing Ukraine–Russia conflict, he noted how low-cost drones have been able to cause deep-reach strategic damage, proving that wars will increasingly be fought through remote, aerial assaults rather than conventional ground infiltration. He stressed that India must prepare for such scenarios by strengthening its technological self-reliance instead of depending on global powers.
Referring to the newly launched Indrajaal Ranger platform, he said the system represents a significant step forward in protecting the country’s hinterland from airborne threats and smuggling routes that fuel drug, weapon and explosives trafficking. He praised the mobility and autonomous nature of the system, noting its ability to detect, hack or neutralise drones across a 10-km radius while operating without static infrastructure.
Pandey also appreciated the fact that the platform has been developed almost entirely with indigenous capability, describing it as a strong signal of India’s technological maturity and preparedness for future security challenges. He congratulated Indrajaal and its team for advancing a solution that aligns with the nation’s strategic needs and defence self-reliance goals.
Kiran Raju said the company can deliver the vehicles within three to four months and is expecting to sell 10–12 units during the current financial year.
