Meghalaya Chief Secy, DGP urge NEHU students to suspend hunger strike

Shillong, Nov 19 (UNI) Meghalaya Chief Secretary Donald Philips Wahlang and Director General of Police on Tuesday visited the protest site where students of North Eastern Hill University (NEHU) are observing an indefinite hunger strike over their demand for removal of Vice-Chancellor (VC) Prof. Prabha Shankar Shukla.
“We came here with the specific objective of requesting the students to suspend the agitation pending the completion of the inquiry,” Wahlang told reporters.
“I have told them the reasons why they should suspend their agitation. I am confident and I hope that they will sit together with different organisation who are agitating and they will suspend during period of inquiry. I have come here on behalf of the state government and also on personal capacity, both me and the DGP,” he added
