Central Scheme on Makhana (Thangjing) to be launched in Manipur

Imphal, Nov 6 (UNI) A Central Scheme on Makhana (fox nut), locally known as Thangjing, will soon be implemented across the state by the Department of Horticulture and Soil Conservation, Government of Manipur.
The announcement was made by K. Debadutta Sharma, Director of the department, during the “Field Day on Rice and Farmer–Scientist Interaction” organised today by the ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Manipur Centre, Lamphelpat.
Debadutta Sharma invited interested farmers to actively participate in the upcoming Makhana scheme and urged scientists to take advantage of the initiative to carry out much-needed research on the crop.
