Assam Rifles seize Rs 85.95 crore worth of Methamphetamine, heroin near Indo-Myanmar border

Aizawl, Nov 20 (UNI) The Assam Rifles, in coordination with police, seized drugs worth Rs 85.95 crore in two separate operations near Zokhawthar along the Indo-Myanmar border on Tuesday.
The first operation involved the recovery of 28.520 kg of Methamphetamine tablets, valued at Rs 85.56 crore. Acting on intelligence inputs about a suspicious consignment being moved across the Tiau River by two individuals, a joint team of Assam Rifles and police launched an operation. The traffickers abandoned the consignment and fled across the border to Myanmar as security forces closed in.
In a separate operation also in Zokhawthar, a male and a female, both Myanmar nationals, were apprehended while riding a Kenbo bike. They were found in possession of 52 grams of heroin, locally known as Heroin No. 4, worth Rs 39 lakh.
