Odisha govt provide Rs. 1000 as livelihood assistance to all PDS beneficiaries

Bhubaneswar, Feb 12 (UNI) The Odisha Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, on Monday decided to provide one-time livelihood assistance of Rs. 1000 in cash to 95,90,526 families covered under the Public Distribution System (PDS) scheme.
Chief Secretary P. K. Jena, soon after the cabinet meeting, said that after ensuring the food and nutritional security of families comprising 3,35,98,401 members covered under the Public Distribution System (PDS), the state government felt it necessary to provide financial support to the beneficiary families due to the hardships they face due to the rise in prices of essential commodities.
The cabinet also decided to provide the beneficiaries with two jute carry bags for the collection of their PDS food grain from the Fair Price Shop as well as for their daily use.
