Shillong Customs destroys drugs worth Rs. 19.17 cr

Shillong, Mar 21 (UNI) The Commissioner of Customs (Preventive) destroyed over 1 tonne of cannabis and 2.437 kilogrammes of heroin valued at around Rs 19.17 crore, an official said on Thursday.
The drugs had been seized under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act during various operations.
“The destruction drive was carried out today by incineration in the presence of the Drug Disposal Committee, consisting of officers of Customs and Directorate of Revenue Intelligence,” an official statement said.
