Mizoram police recovered 1.385 kg of heroin

Aizawl, Feb 21 (UNI) Mizoram Police officials seized 1.385 kg of heroin at a police check gate near the Myanmar border in Champhai district and arrested a Myanmarese national for allegedly trafficking the contraband from Myanmar on Tuesday, state chief public relations officer Lalbiakthanga Khiangte said on Wednesday.
Khiangte, also known as IGP (headquarters), said that the seized contraband is estimated to be worth Rs. 41.55 lakh in the local market. He said that the drugs were seized from a maxicab plying between Champhai and Aizawl in the possession of one of the passengers, Hauenga, 63, of Hmunlai, Myanmar.
The contraband was concealed in 110 soap cases in three traveller’s bags.
