Agartala, May 12 (UNI) A 10-year-old girl was allegedly sexually assaulted by a 57-year-old man in Kakraban area under Tripura’s Gomati district on Saturday while she was returning home from school. However, police launched an investigation registering a case against the accused man and arrested him.
The villagers stormed Kakraban police station at night and demanded immediate arrest to ensure an exemplary punishment for the accused. The Officer-in-charge of Kakraban police station Rajib Bhowmik said, “The interrogation of the accused is continuing and he has been booked under Sections 341/354 of IPC and Section 8 of POCSO Act.”
Police said the minor girl, a student of Class III was allegedly stopped by the accused identified as Safik Miah on a lonely road stretch in Kishoreganj village around when she was returning home. Miah allegedly caught the traumatized child and sexually assaulted her.
