Meghalaya to receive Rs 500 crore for urban areas scheme

Shillong, Feb 9 (UNI) Meghalaya has received Central government approval for Rs 500 crore under the Special Assistance on Capital Investment forUrban Areas Scheme, Chief Minister Conrad Sangma said on Friday.
“We have put in a proposal of Rs 619 crore for Meghalaya for which we have received approvals for close to Rs 500 crore and we expect another Rs 100 crore to be approved after the Amendments and policies are put in place,” the Chief minister told reporters after chairing a cabinet meeting.
He informed that the Union government has earmarked Rs 15,000 crore for the scheme and that certain guidelines and policies have been necessitated.
