Arunachal: 197 file nomination for Assembly polls, 15 for two LS seats

Itanagar, Mar 27 (UNI) As many as 197 candidates from different political parties including Independents have filed their nominations for the April 19 Assembly elections in Arunachal Pradesh.
Fifteen nominees also submitted their papers for the two Lok Sabha seats in the State, including eight for Arunachal West constituency and seven for Arunachal East seat, which are going to the polls in the first phase, election officials said.
Sitting BJP MPs Kiren Rijiju (Union Minister) Kiren Rijiju and Tapir Gao are seeking re-election from Arunachal West and Arunachal East constituencies respectively. Among others, former Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister and State Congress president Nabam Tuki also filed his nomination for the Arunachal West seat.

Mizoram excise officials seize about 1 kg raw opium near Myanmar border

Aizawl, Feb 12: In a major crackdown on drug smuggling, officials of the Mizoram Excise & Narcotics Department seized 945 grams of raw opium along the Indo-Myanmar border, a senior government spokesperson said on Wednesday.
The seizure was made on Tuesday evening at a location between Zote village in Champhai district and Bulfek village in Myanmar, department spokesperson Peter Zohmingthanga said.
