Ranchi, May 13 (UNI) An estimated 11.68 percent of 58.34 lakh voters exercised their rights in the first two hours of polling on Monday during the fifth phase of Lok Sabha elections in Jharkhand.
The Chief Electoral Officer of Jharkhand said, around 11.56 percent voters in Koderma, 11.43 percent in Chatra and 12.04 percent in Hazaribagh exercised their franchise.
Apart from this, 10.37 percent voters cast their first votes till 9 am in the Gandey Assembly by-election where jailed former CM Hemant Soren's wife is in fray.
There are a total of 58,34,618 voters in these three Lok Sabha constituencies. Of these, 29,99,233 are male and 28,35,329 are female voters. The total number of booths is 6,705. Of these, 575 booths are in urban areas and 6,130 booths are in rural areas.

A total of 73 booths are run by women, 13 booths by disabled people and 13 booths by youth. There are 36 unique booths, which are associated with the identity of the particular areas.
A total of 22 candidates are in the fray in Chatra, 15 in Koderma and 22 in Hazaribagh.
Kumar said that there are a total of 16,89,926 voters in Chatra parliamentary constituency. Of which 8,61,959 are male and 8,27,965 are female voters. There are a total of 1,899 booths in Chatra parliamentary constituency. Of them, 112 are in urban areas and 1,787 are in rural areas.
Sixteen of these booths are run by women, four by disabled people and three booths by youth. There are 5 unique booths in this parliamentary constituency.
In Koderma, there are total 22,05,318 voters, of which 11,40,049 are male and 10,65,246 are female voters. There are a total of 2,552 booths of which 136 are in urban and 2416 are in rural areas. Twenty-three booths will be run by women, one by disabled people and four by youth.
Major candidates whose fate are at stake in today's election include BJP's Manish Jaiswal from Hazaribagh, Congress's GP Patel, BJP's Kalicharan Singh from Chatra and former Congress minister KN Tripathi, BJP's Union Minister Annapurna Devi and Vinod Singh is the head of CPI(ML) of India alliance from Koderma.
Apart from this, JMM candidate Kalpana Soren Murmu, wife of former Chief Minister Hemant Soren, and BJP candidate Dilip Kumar Verma are prominent candidates in the Gandey Assembly by-election.
