Bangladesh suspends visa and consular service in Agartala

Agartala, Dec 3 (UNI) The Assistant High Commission (AHC) of Bangladesh in Agartala on Tuesday announced the suspension of visa and consular service for an indefinite period, citing the reason of security deficiency.
This decision, taken presumably at the behest of the Bangladesh external affairs ministry, came into effect immediately, said first secretary in the AHC Md Al Amin.
Sources said the decision on the temporary closure of the AHC office of Bangladesh was ‘anticipated in view of what happened on Monday. It, however, hoped that the AHC service would resume soon.

Bird Watch Survey: 89 species recorded at Nongsaya Lake in Arunachal’s Namsai

Itanagar, July 9 (UNI) A total of 89 bird species were recorded during a two-day bird watch survey conducted recently by the Arunachal Pradesh Birding Club (APBC) in collaboration with the Public Works Department (PWD), Namsai Division, at Nongsaya Lake and Jona forest area in the Namsai district of Arunachal Pradesh.

Guwahati, July 9 (UNI) Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma today asserted that the eviction drive which is being undertaken by his government will continue till all illegal encroachments are cleared so that the areas can be used for public welfare projects. Defending the eviction drive despite opposition criticism, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said that some resistance was to be expected during an operation of such scale. Violence broke out during a massive eviction drive in Dhubri district yesterday.
