Odisha: School teacher sent to jail for raping widow

Kendrapara, July 12 (UNI) A school teacher from the coastal region of Odisha has been arrested and sent to judicial custody by a local court on charges of raping a widow.
Jamboo Marine Police arrested Ranjit Mandal, a government primary school teacher from Sana Tubi under Mahakalapada block, after a widow, mother of two daughters, including one who is married, lodged an FIR alleging that she was repeatedly raped by the accused under false promises.
Acting on the complaint, the police registered a case under Sections 64, 115(2), 308(3), 126(2), 329(4), 351(2), and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
