Over 1,600 houses damaged by hailstorms in Mizoram

Aizawl, Apr 3 (UNI) With 542 buildings being heavily damaged by a massive hailstorm at Sangau town in southernmost Mizoram’s Lawngtlai district on Tuesday afternoon, the total number of houses destroyed or damaged by the thunderstorm and hailstorm that hit the state rose to over 1,600.
Officials said that many buildings have been completely destroyed by the hailstorm, including some government offices.
The hailstorm was so massive that vehicles could not ply on the roads, and the services of excavators had to be employed to clear the roads covered by thick mounts of hail.

Imphal, Jan 25 (UNI) Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh distributed advanced prosthetic devices including State-of-the-Art Myoelectric Hands and Motorized Wheelchairs, to persons with Disabilities (PwDs) at the Secretariat on Saturday.
The Chief Minister stated that after the formation of the BJP-led government in 2017, the government has been launching various schemes to aid the marginal section of society and to assist persons with disability. He spoke on schemes including Chief Minister-gi Hakselgi Tengbang (CMHT), Chief Minister-gi Sotharabasingi Tengbang and School Fagathansi Mission among others.
