Bihar govt transfers Rs 1,227.27 cr to over 1.11 crore beneficiaries under Social Security Pension Scheme

Patna, July 11 (UNI) In a major step towards ensuring social welfare and financial dignity for the elderly and vulnerable sections of society, the Bihar government today transferred a total of Rs 1,227.27 crore to the bank accounts of over 1.11 crore beneficiaries under the Social Security Pension Scheme through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).
Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today officially launched the enhanced pension initiative in a state-level event held in Patna.
Speaking at the event, Kumar said, "The pension amount has been increased from Rs 400 to Rs 1,100 per month, bringing substantial relief and support to millions across the state. The increase will benefit a wide spectrum of society, including senior citizens, widows, the differently-abled, and transgender individuals."
