Anne Hathaway’s ‘Mother Mary’ trailer released ahead of 2026 release

Washington/New Delhi, Dec 4 (UNI) The makers of the Anne Hathaway-led music drama ‘Mother Mary’ have unveiled the film’s first trailer. The film, which also stars Michaela Coel in a pivotal role, is slated for release in 2026.
Directed and written by David Lowery, ‘Mother Mary’ follows Hathaway as a pop star who, after halting her tour due to an existential crisis, reconnects with an old friend and fashion designer, Sam (Coel), who played a pivotal role in shaping her public image.
Hathaway shared the trailer on her Instagram account writing, “Some feuds will haunt you. Watch the trailer for MOTHER MARY, a psychosexual pop thriller from David Lowery starring Anne Hathaway, Michaela Coel, Hunter Schafer, and FKA Twigs. With original music written and produced by Jack Antonoff, Charli xcx, and FKA Twigs. In theaters this Spring.”
The soundtrack features original songs by music heavyweights Jack Antonoff, Charli XCX, and FKA Twigs, with Twigs also making a cameo appearance in the film. The ensemble cast includes Hunter Schafer, Atheena Frizzell, Kaia Gerber, Jessica Brown Findlay, Alba Baptista, and Sian Clifford.
‘Mother Mary’ marks the third collaboration between Lowery and A24, following 2017’s A Ghost Story and 2021’s The Green Knight. Lowery’s previous works also include Disney’s Pete’s Dragon (2016) and the upcoming Peter Pan & Wendy.
Meanwhile, Hathaway will also be seen in the highly anticipated sequel to The Devil Wears Prada. The makers recently released a teaser for the follow-up, which reunites much of the original cast for another glimpse into the chaotic world of Runway magazine.
Set nearly two decades after the first film, the 51-second teaser opens with Meryl Streep’s Miranda Priestly striding through the hallways in her signature red pumps. Hathaway’s Andy Sachs soon joins her in the elevator, flaunting her own style and a sly smile.
Written by Aline Brosh McKenna and directed by David Frankel, the sequel introduces new faces including Kenneth Branagh, Justin Theroux, Simone Ashley, Lucy Liu, Patrick Brammall, and Caleb Hearon. The Devil Wears Prada 2 is scheduled for a theatrical release on May 1, 2026.
