Sitar virtuoso Anoushka Shankar nominated twice at 68th Grammys

New Delhi, Nov 9 (UNI) Eleven-time Grammy-nominated sitarist Anoushka Shankar has added two more nominations to her illustrious career.
At the 68th Grammy Awards, her single ‘Daybreak’ earned a nomination for Best Global Music Performance, while her collaborative album ‘Chapter III: We Return To Light’, created with Alam Khan and drummer Sarathy Korwar, received a nod for Best Global Music Album.
Reacting to the news on Instagram, Anoushka wrote, “Today is a day of contrasts, a horrific migraine AND news of my 12th and 13th Grammy nominations all in one afternoon. I’m beyond grateful, from my horizontal position in this darkened room, to have ‘Chapter III: We Return to Light’ nominated for Best Global Album and Daybreak up for Best Global Music Performance. To be nominated alongside the incredible alamsarode and sarathykorwar, with whom I made this music, makes it all the sweeter.”
The announcement has brought joy to music lovers across India. Actress Priyanka Chopra congratulated Anoushka on Instagram, calling her “queen energy”.
This year, other Indian artists have also made their mark at the Grammys. Composer Siddhant Bhatia is in contention for his album ‘Sounds of Kumbha’, a 12-track project blending devotional motifs with contemporary soundscapes.
Indo-American jazz pianist and composer Charu Suri earned a nomination for Best Contemporary Instrumental Album for her work ‘Shayan’.
The winners of the 2026 Grammys will be revealed on Sunday, February 1, at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles. CBS will broadcast the award show, which will also be streamed live on Paramount .
