Steven Spielberg to cast Josh O'Connor in his next sci-fi epic

Washington, Nov 19 (UNI) Josh O'Connor, the 34 year old British actor widely known for playing eminent roles in "The Crown" and recent sports drama "Challengers", is on board with the cast of Steven Spielberg's next cinematic venture.
The untitled sci-fi film, set to be released by Universal Pictures on May 15, 2026, boasts a stellar ensemble that includes Emily Blunt, Colin Firth, Colman Domingo and Eve Hewson, according to Variety.
Though the plot is under wraps, it is expected to explore the themes of science fiction. Kristie Macosko Krieger, Spielberg’s long-time producing partner, will helm the production.
Josh O’Connor, a BAFTA-winning actor, continues to cement his position as one of Hollywood’s most versatile talents. Following his portrayal of Prince Charles in "The Crown", he has taken on diverse roles, including a lead in Luca Guadagnino’s "Challengers" where he rounded out a love triangle with Zendaya and Mike Faist and the upcoming "Knives Out" threequel, "Wake Up Dead Man".
Spielberg, a three-time Oscar winner and the visionary behind some of cinema’s greatest blockbusters, continues to push creative boundaries. With a line-up of classics like "Jaws", "E.T.", Schindler’s List" and "Saving Private Ryan", his influence on Hollywood remains unparalleled.
Spielberg recently teamed with Universal on “The Fabelmans,” a semi-autobiographical tale about a film-obsessed teenager growing up in Arizona and Northern California. UNI XC SSP
