Cong's Mahalakshmi scheme will be boon for poor women: Sonia Gandhi

New Delhi, May 13 (UNI) Congress Parliamentary Party Chairperson Sonia Gandhi on Monday emphasised that women in India are suffering from severe inflation and believes Congress' Mahalakshmi scheme will be beneficial for them.

In a video message addressed to the women, the former Congress president said, “Mahalakshmi is the newest guarantee to take our work forward. Under Congress’ ‘Mahalakshmi’ scheme, we will give Rs one lakh every year to woman from a poor family”.

She said, “Our guarantees have already changed the lives of crores of families in Karnataka and Telangana. Be it MNREGA, Right to Information, Right to Education or Food Security, Congress Party has empowered millions of Indian through our scheme,” the Rajya Sabha MP said.

She assured the women of the country that, “In this difficult time, I want to assure you that the hand of Congress is with you and this hand will change your situation”.
