Mamata Banerjee calls for unity on Sampriti Diwas amid rising tensions in West Bengal

New Delhi, Dec 6 (UNI) West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Saturday extended warm greetings on 'Sampriti Diwas' (Harmony Day), underscoring the state's enduring legacy of unity and communal harmony.
In her message, Banerjee celebrated Bengal’s rich cultural heritage, referencing luminaries such as Rabindranath Tagore, Kazi Nazrul Islam, Ramakrishna, and Swami Vivekananda, and affirmed that Bengal has always resisted divisive forces.
“Hindu, Muslim, Sikh, Christian, Jain, Buddhist — in Bengal, we all know how to walk shoulder to shoulder. We share our joys because we believe that religion belongs to each, but festivals belong to all,” she said on her WhatsApp channel.
