India categorically rejects Canada's allegation of interference

New Delhi, May 7 (UNI) India on Thursday categorically rejected allegations of interference in Canada by that nation's secret service, terming them "baseless imputations" and asserting that the same intelligence report acknowledges the threat posed by Ottawa-based Khalistani extremist groups to both countries.
Responding to the Canadian Security Intelligence Service CSIS 2025 Public Report, Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said India's position on the issue has remained "clear and consistent" and reiterated that interference in the internal affairs of other nations is not part of Indian policy.
"India has consistently spoken out about concerns regarding the use of Canadian territory as a safe haven by extremist and separatist elements. The CSIS assessment acknowledges the presence of supporters of the Khalistan separatist movement in Canada and notes that Canada-based Khalistani extremist (CBKE) groups continue to pose a national security threat not only to India but also to Canada," Jaiswal said.
