Kazan/New Delhi, Oct 22 (UNI) Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday said the discussions at the 16th BRICS Summit will contribute to a better planet, as he arrived in Kazan, Russia, that is hosting the mega event.
“Landed in Kazan for the BRICS Summit. This is an important Summit, and the discussions here will contribute to a better planet,” the PM said in a post on X.
The PM was “warmly received by the Head of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov”, the MEA spokesperson said in a post.
After his plane landed in Kazan International Airport, PM Modi was accorded a ceremonial welcome with soldiers on both sides of the tarmac as he alighted from the plane. Russian officials welcomed him, and so did women in traditional costumes. The Indian Ambassador to Russia Vinay Kumar was also present.
Kazan is the largest city and capital of Tatarstan, Russia. The city lies at the confluence of the Volga and the Kazanka Rivers.
PM Modi is set to hold a bilateral meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin later today.
The BRICS summit is being held tomorrow.
Earlier, the PM said that he looks forward to extensive discussions on a wide range of subjects during the BRICS Summit as well as meeting various leaders there.
