Kazan/New Delhi, Oct 22 (UNI) Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Kazan, Russia, to attend the 16th BRICS Summit.
After his plane landed in Kazan International Airport, PM Modi was accorded a ceremonial welcome with soldiers lined on both sides of the tarmac as he alighted from the plane. Russian officials welcomed him warmly, and so did women in traditional costumes. The Indian Ambassador to Russia Vinay Kumar was also present, according to a video shared by Sputnik.
Kazan is the largest city and capital of Tatarstan, Russia. The city lies at the confluence of the Volga and the Kazanka Rivers.
PM Modi is set to hold a bilateral meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin later today.
The BRICS summit is being held tomorrow.
Earlier, the PM said that he looks forward to extensive discussions on a wide range of subjects during the BRICS Summit as well as meeting various leaders there.
