Delhi Assembly adjourned after paying homage to Kalam

New Delhi, Jul 28 (UNI) Delhi Assembly was adjourned today after paying tributes to former President A P J Abdul Kalam who passed away in Shillong. Delhi Assembly's one day special session, which was called for discussing the issue of women safety, was adjourned after paying rich tributes to former President Bharat Ratna A P J Abdul Kalam who passed away last evening and then adjourned for the day soon after as a mark of respect to the 'true son of India'. Delhi Assembly also paid homage to the loss of innocent lives in the Gurdaspur attack by the terrorists. Delhi Assembly Speaker Ram Niwas Goyal, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Leader of Opposition Vijender Gupta paid tributes to the loss of innocent lives in the attack. Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said, '' We all are one and united for giving a strong blow to the terrorists and terrorists activities wherever these happened.'' He paid tributes to the innocent police officers who sacrificed their lives for countering the terrorists and their activities. He expressed his deep grief and sorrow at the demise of the police officers and the innocent people and prayed for peace of their souls. It was decided to call the next session of Delhi Assembly on August 3. The AAP government had called special session to propose, discuss and pass a resolution to set up Commission of Inquiry to look into complaints of crime against women and cases in which appropriate action has not been taken. The decision to call the special session of Delhi Assembly had come in the wake of recent incident of brutal stabbing of the 19-year-old girl on July 16 in Anand Parbat locality of central Delhi.
