Bilaspur, Nov 26 (UNI) Seven wagons of a goods train got derailed in South East Central Railway's (SECR) Bilaspur-Katni line on Tuesday, severely disrupting rail traffic on the route.
Railway sources said the mishap happened when the wagons of the goods train jumped off the track between Khongsara and Bhanwar Tonk stations on the up line.
The accident prompted the railway authorities to cancel some trains, and short-terminate or divert some other trains.
The authorities have cancelled 18258/18257 Chirmiri-Bilaspur-Chirmiri Express and the 18242/18241 Ambikapur-Durg-Ambikapur Express for Wednesday. The 08739 Shahdol-Bilaspur MEMU has been short-terminated at Pendra Road, and the 08748 Katni-Bilaspur MEMU at Shahdol.
The 18477 Puri-Yog Nagar Rishikesh Kalinga Utkal Express is being diverted via Bilaspur-Gondiya-Jabalpur-Katni, and the 12549 Durg-Major Captain Tushar Mahajan Udhampur Express via Durg-Gondiya-Jabalpur, the sources said.
The 12854 Bhagalpur-Durg Express is being diverted via Bilaspur-Gondiya-Jabalpur-Katni, and the 12441 Bilaspur-New Delhi Rajdhani Express via Bilaspur-Gondiya-Jabalpur-Katni.
Railway officials are working on a war footing to restore normalcy on the affected route soon.
