Accident claims 14 lives in MP; PM Modi expresses grief

Dindori (Madhya Pradesh), Feb 29 (UNI) Fourteen people died and approximately 20 sustained injuries when a pickup vehicle overturned in a valley in the vicinity of this district’s Badjhar village, police said on Thursday.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed grief over the loss of lives and wished the injured a rapid recovery.
Chief Minister Mohan Yadav announced ex gratia of Rs 4 lakh each besides Rs 1 lakh to every hurt individual. State Public Health Engineering Minister Sampatiya Uikey visited the victims in hospital. A high-level inquiry shall be conducted.
Late last night’s incident occurred within Shahpura Police Station limits. Most of the fatalities occurred on the spot. The injured have been hospitalised here or admitted at the Community Health Centre in Shahpura. The vehicle was carrying a nearby village’s residents back from a family function.
