Chitrakoot, April 2 (UNI) Seven persons were killed and one injured when the autorickshaw in which they were travelling collided head-on with a dumper at Karvi area of Chitrakoot district in Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday, police sources said.
The sources said that the incident took place near Chakmali Amanpur village in the morning, where the autorickshaw in a bid to overtake a truck collided with the dumper head-on.
Police sources said, "Eight passengers in the auto sustained serious injuries in the incident and were taken to the district hospital, where doctors declared five dead. The deceased were identified as Aniruddh (30), his nephew Akhilesh (22), Atar Singh (50), Dharmendra Soni (30) and his sister Nidhi Soni."
Nirbhay (20), Suraj (20), and Sumit (14), who sustained serious injuries, were referred to a hospital in Prayagraj. "While Nirbhay died while being taken to Prayagraj, Suraj died at the hospital during treatment," they said.
