CM Mann and Arvind Kejriwal launch second phase of Mukh Mantri Tirath Yatra Scheme

Chandigarh, Oct 29 (UNI) Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann and Aam Aadmi Party National Convener Arvind Kejriwal on Wednesday launched the second phase of the Mukh Mantri Tirath Yatra Scheme to mark the 350th martyrdom anniversary of the Ninth Sikh Guru, Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji. Speaking at the launch event, Kejriwal said the initiative reflects the Punjab government’s commitment to serving people from all walks of life by enabling them to visit revered religious sites. He emphasized that the selection process for beneficiaries is completely transparent and conducted through an open draw system following registration. A dedicated medical team will accompany each group of pilgrims to ensure their safety throughout the journey.
Kejriwal noted that the scheme would benefit people who have long wished to visit these sacred sites but could not afford to do so. He urged devotees to pray for Punjab’s peace, prosperity, and unity during their pilgrimage, adding that the state has always been a land of saints, martyrs, and spiritual leaders who spread messages of harmony and brotherhood.
Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann announced that around 16,000 pilgrims from each assembly constituency will be chosen for the yatra. Devotees will visit key religious and historical sites, including Sri Harmandir Sahib, Durgiana Temple, Bhagwan Valmiki Tirath Sthal, Jallianwala Bagh, and the Partition Museum in Amritsar. Trips to Sri Anandpur Sahib and Mata Naina Devi Temple in Himachal Pradesh will also be part of the itinerary.
