2 killed in Punjab hotel fire

Ludhiana, Oct 10 (UNI) Two people were killed and five others injured when a three-storey hotel caught fire in Punjab's Ludhiana on Thursday early morning, police said.
Police said the fire broke out in Hotel Royal Blue, situated near Jawahar camp bus stand, caught fire.
Many occupants and staff members ran out of the hotel, however a young man and a woman, who were apparently sleeping at the time of the incident, could not come out of their room on time and died due to suffocation.

Punjab: Saddened by govt insensitivity to farmers' agitation, says Khaira

Chandigarh, Dec 11 (UNI) Congress MLA from Bholath Sukhpal Singh Khaira on Wednesday said he was saddened by the BJP-led Union government and Punjab's Aam Aadmi Party dispensation's 'insensitive' attitude towards the ongoing farmers' agitation.In a video message, Khaira said the Union as well as the Punjab governments were ignoring the condition of farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dhaliwal, who has been on fast unto death for the last 16 days.He asked whether the governments have forgotten the contribution of the people of Punjab in the independence struggle, apart from making India self-sufficient in food grain and protecting its international borders.Khaira urged people in power to accept the demands of farmers' unions.
