Gunbattle  breaks out in J&K Kulgam, 9th encounter in November

Srinagar, Nov 13 (UNI) A gunbattle broke out between militants and security forces in Jammu and Kashmir's Kulgam district on Wednesday, officials said.
This is the ninth encounter in Kashmir Valley this month as security forces have intensified anti-militancy operations across the valley.

The latest encounter broke out when joint teams of forces launched a cordon and a search operation following an input about the presence of militants in Badimarg area of Kulgam.

“As the cordon was being laid, terrorists opened fire triggering a gunbattle. The operation is underway,” officials said, adding no casualties or injuries have been reported on either side so far.

On Tuesday morning, militants and joint forces exchanged fire at Nagmarg forest area in Jammu and Kashmir’s Bandipora district. However, after the initial gunbattle, there was no fresh contact with militants. The massive combing operation in the area continued on Wednesday.

There has been an uptick in encounters in Kashmir this month. Eight militants have been shot dead in eight encounters in November. Most of the gunbattles have taken place in North Kashmir.

Police attach vehicle in UAPA case in J&K's Anantnag

Srinagar, Jan 15 (UNI) Police in Jammu and Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Thursday attached a vehicle under the provisions of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).
Police said a car was attached in connection with an FIR registered in 2025 at police station Uttrasoo under various sections of the UAP Act and the Indian Arms Act.
The attachment was carried out as part of the ongoing investigation into the case, in accordance with due legal procedures, police said.

Varanasi, Jan 15 (UNI) The Varanasi police has arrested an accused from Mumbai who spread rumors by giving false information about a bomb on the Kashi Express train. Government Railway Police (GRP) Assistant Commissioner of Police Kunwar Prabhat Singh said on Thursday that in a joint operation by Varanasi and Mau police, the GRP apprehended the accused, Rajesh Shukla, from Mumbai and brought him to Varanasi Cantt railway station.
