Parra ‘symbol’ of challenges faced by Kashmiri youth after 2019: Mehbooba Mufti

Parra ‘symbol’ of challenges faced by Kashmiri youth after 2019: Mehbooba Mufti

Srinagar, May 7 (UNI) Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) president and former chief minister Mehbooba Mufti Tuesday urged youths to vote for her party's candidates and tell New Delhi that decisions taken in August 2019 are unacceptable to people of Jammu and Kashmir.
While campaigning in favour of party's youth leader Waheed Parra who is contesting Lok Sabha elections from Srinagar parliamentary seat, she said that Parra has been the symbol of challenges faced by Kashmiri youths after August 2019.
Addressing people during a road show in southern Pulwama, Mufti urged people of J&K to respond to New Delhi through voting for its actions it resorted to in J&K after August 2019.
Parra is up against National Conference’s Aga Roohullah and Apni Party’s Mohammad Ashraf Mir.
Mufti appealed to youth to support PDP’s candidate for Srinagar parliamentary constituency and stated their voice will be addressed in an appropriate manner.
She said that this Lok Sabha elections are not for bringing electricity or advancing its infrastructure, or a run for becoming MLA to be in power, rather it is a chance to reply to New Delhi through votes and tell them their decisions taken in August 2019 are unacceptable to people of J&K, which need to be reversed.
She said that post-August 2019 the entire J&K has been turned into a jail and youths are the worst sufferers.
“Our youth are being summoned to police stations and subsequently detained in jails outside J&K. This is unacceptable for us. We have to respond to this outlook through votes so that our representative will reach Parliament and flag up our genuine concerns,” she said.
Meanwhile, Mufti alleged that administration did not allow her to visit several areas during the election campaign in South Kashmir today.
