First work of Cong govt will be caste census: Rahul

Shajapur (MP), Sep 30 (UNI) Emphasising that a caste census would comprise the maiden act of the Congress after it assumes the reins at the Centre, that party’s erstwhile president Rahul Gandhi averred on Saturday that the Women’s Reservation Bill is incomplete without a quota for Other Backward Classes.
Addressing a rally in this district headquarters of election-bound Madhya Pradesh, the visiting leader said, “Women’s reservation is a fine step but two small lines that the BJP has written – regarding a survey and denotification – should be erased else implementation shall be delayed for an entire decade. Prime Minister Narendra Modi claims that he toils for the OBC. Ask any BJP parliamentarian or legislator whether their opinions are solicited prior to drafting of legislation and they shall respond in the negative.”
Alleging that laws are made by the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh and 90 top bureaucrats who run the country, Gandhi posed a rhetorical question as to how many OBC members figure among these 90.
“Despite OBCs constituting approximately half the Indian population, merely three of these officers hail from that category. Three years back, that number was zero! Modi does not work for dalits, tribal folk and OBCs; he merely diverts your attention. The truth is that only 5 per cent of the Union Budget is controlled by these OBC bureaucrats. When I raise this question, the BJP trembles, Modi runs away and (Union Home Affairs and Cooperation Minister) Amit Shah dodges the issue,” he added.
