Amethi (UP), May 3 (UNI) Union Minister and local MP Smriti Irani on Friday attacked Congress and Rahul Gandhi saying that the party has accepted its defeat in Amethi even before the elections.
Talking to reporters, Irani said that the Gandhi family not filing nomination from Amethi indicated that they have accepted defeat even before the votes are cast. "If he (Rahul Gandhi) had felt there was any chance of victory, he himself would have contested the elections from Amethi," she said.
In response to a question, she said that the guests are welcome in Amethi and no effort will be left in welcoming them. She said that out of the last five years, two years were spent in Covid, the development we made in the remaining three years has helped Amethi and the public has benefited.
The Union Minister said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had already predicted this. The PM had said that once the election in Wayanad, Kerala, got over, the Gandhi family will choose a new seat "and it is exactly the same that has happened", she added.
