SUV linked to former minister's family mows down pedestrian in Lucknow

Lucknow, Dec 13 (UNI) A 32-year-old man was killed after being run over by a speeding SUV in the Vibhuti Khand area of Gomti Nagar on Saturday. The vehicle is registered in the name of Bindu Singh, daughter-in-law of former minister and ex-MLA Jung Bahadur Singh.
According to the information, the victim, Sunil Kumar, a resident of Gangapurwa village in Sitapur district, was standing by the roadside near Sushma Hospital around 6 am, drinking tea. A high-speed Fortuner SUV (UP 36 X 2845) coming from the Faizabad Road side hit him with such force that he was thrown nearly 50 feet away. While attempting to flee, the driver allegedly ran the vehicle over Sunil's abdomen, killing him on the spot.
The incident caused panic in the area. Locals managed to stop the vehicle, but the driver fled from the spot. The police have seized the Fortuner, which reportedly had a BJP flag and an Assembly pass displayed on it. The front portion of the vehicle was badly damaged in the collision.
