Moradabad (UP), Dec 2 (UNI) A delegation of Samajwadi Party (SP) reached the prison on Monday to meet the accused of violence that broke out during the survey of Jama Masjid in Sambhal district in Moradabad division of Uttar Pradesh, police sources said here.
Police sources of the district prison said on Monday that a delegation of Samajwadi Party (SP) led by former Moradabad MP Dr ST Hasan met the accused of Sambhal violence in the prison. Prison sources said that slips were submitted in advance to meet the prisoners in the prison.
Prison sources said that the delegation included MP Dr ST Hasan, MLA Samarpal Singh, MLA Nawab Jaan Khan. Former SP MP ST Hasan said in his statement on the district prison that after the Sambhal violence, many people are imprisoned here.
He said that usually during violence many innocent onlookers also get trapped who have nothing to do with the riot. "To pacify those people we have come here to meet them today so that every possible legal help can be provided to get them out of jail," he said.
On the question of the BJP making Sambhal a political tourism spot after being repeatedly attacked by the opposition, he said that those who do not bother to inquire about the situation in Manipur despite the violence there, consider Sambhal as tourism.
The violence broke out in Sambhal over the survey conducted by the Advocate Commissioner's team appointed on the orders of the court in the Harihar Mandir versus Jama Masjid case. The Sambhal district administration has banned the entry of outsiders into Sambhal till December 10 to maintain peace and order.
