IMD issues "yellow alert" in Himachal, weather to remain dry until Sunday

Shimla, Nov 29(UNI) Himachal Pradesh is currently grappling with a severe cold wave, with temperatures steadily declining across the state. Even the lower plains are experiencing more intense chills than the popular hill tourist destinations.
Lahaul-Spiti, the state’s major cold zone, has already plunged to sub-zero temperatures, with icy winds causing disruptions to daily life. The popular tourist town of Manali recorded a minimum temperature of 1.3°C on Friday, while the state capital Shimla saw a low of 8.0°C. A major factor intensifying the cold wave is dense fog in the plains.
A thick blanket of fog blanketed Bilaspur and Mandi on Friday, while a light fog in Sundernagar exacerbated the chill.
