ParliamentPosted at: Dec 1 2015 1:35PM Govt to form committee to review impact of climate change on Agriculture: MinNew Delhi, Dec 1 (UNI) Union Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Radha Mohan Singh today said the government is planning to form a committee to review the impact of climate change on Agriculture. The Minister said the government has drawn a contingency plan to meet the impact of climate change on agriculture. Replying to a question during Question Hour in the Lok Sabha, the Minister said Agriculture was facing crisis due to climate change. He said sudden change in weather pattern has resulted in crop damage, poor yield and loss of income to farmers. The Minister said the losses to crops in the affected states were assessed by the Inter Ministerial Central Teams(IMCTs). He said a special type of paddy varieties have been developed which will not be ruined during floods. The Minister said the Indian Council of Agricultural Research(ICAR) has developed short duration seeds which help during the time of crisis.
