India's share in global warming below 2 pc: Minister

New Delhi, Jul 1 (UNI) Rubbishing reports that India was the biggest contributor to global warming, the government has said country's share in the rise of global temperature was below two per cent.

"There has been an increase of 0.8 degree Celsius in global temperature. If you calculate, India's contribution to generation of heat is less than two per cent," Environment, Forests and Climate Change Minister Prakash Javadekar said here yesterday.

Dismissing the report as negative propaganda by the western press, Mr Javadekar said industrially developed countries were bigger contributors to the global warming.
