Cong MLA slams Karna govt over fund disparity

Bengaluru, Nov 18 (UNI) Congress MLA in Karnataka HR Gaviappa on Monday accused the state government of failing to allocate adequate development funds for his constituency, and claimed there was "glaring disparity" in the amount allocated to neighbouring areas.
The MLA from Vijayanagar alleged while neighbouring constituencies received Rs 60-70 crore for development, Vijayanagar was only allocated Rs 22 crore, with Rs 12 crore earmarked solely for the construction of the district hospital, leaving little for other critical projects, he told reporters here.
"I have no money, people in my constituency are questioning me, I am unable to answer them," Gaviappa said. His comments came at a time when Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and his deputy D K Shivakuamr have both consistently claimed that the state has sufficient funds for development.
