Congress MLA Rahul Mamkootathil moves anticipatory bail amid serious rape allegations

Thiruvananthapuram, Nov 29 (UNI) Suspended Congress MLA Rahul Mamkootathil has approached the Thiruvananthapuram Principal District and Sessions Court seeking anticipatory bail after being booked in a case involving rape on the promise of marriage, repeated sexual assault, coerced abortion, criminal intimidation, and the unlawful recording of private visuals.
According to the FIR, the complainant alleges that Mamkootathil deceived her with a promise of marriage and sexually assaulted her multiple times from March 2025 onwards.
She claims he secretly recorded intimate moments and later threatened to leak the visuals if she revealed the abuse. The complaint further states that after she became pregnant, a close associate of the MLA supplied abortion pills, which she was coerced into taking, resulting in a forced miscarriage.
