Home guards role multifarious in serving the society: Kakinada SP

Kakinada, Dec 6 (UNI) District Superintendent of Police (SP) Dr Vikranth Patil said that Home Guards role was pivotal in serving the society especially in supporting the police in the maintenance of law and order.
Addressing the Home guards after inspecting the colourful parade and receiving the guard of honour as the chief guest for the home guards 62nd raising day celebrations at the police parade grounds here on Friday , Dr Vikranth said home guards were in the forefront in working along with the police during times of emergencies, natural calamities and combating with the anti p-social elements. Pointing out that even during 1962 Chinese aggression the home guards had extended their services to armed forces, the SP said home guards were being deployed in law and order maintenance duties, traffic control, crime control, CID, special Task force , police internal security, as drivers of police vehicles and computer operators.
In addition, he said home guards services are being utilized in VIP bandobast duties, night beats, communication wing and even election duties.
