Over 50 devotees fall ill after consuming prasad

Hassan, July 15 (UNI) More than 50 devotees reportedly fell ill after consuming prasad during a religious fair held at Tirupati village in Arasikere taluk of Hassan district.
The incident took place during the Tirupati Venkateshwara Jatre where large devotees had gathered to participate in a Tapotsava. As part of the event, food arrangements were made by private group, which served bisibelebath, curd rice, and jalebi as part of the prasad to the devotees.
According to local authorities, several devotees complained of vomiting, diarrhea, and stomach ache after consuming the prasad. The symptoms began early today, and by around 9 AM, at least 15 people had been admitted to the Arasikere government hospital. The number of affected individuals has since crossed 50.
