Minister Seethakka stresses need to address root causes of trafficking

Hyderabad, Aug 29 (UNI) Telangana Panchayat Raj and Women and Child Welfare Minister, D Anasuya Seethakka, emphasised the importance of addressing the root causes of trafficking, such as poverty, migration, and drug addiction.
Speaking at the two-day seminar on "National Consultation on Emerging Trends in Human Trafficking and Strategies to Combat Them," by the Women Safety Wing of the Telangana Police Department in partnership with the International Justice Mission (IJM), at the Hyderabad International Convention Centre (HICC), Novotel, Madhapur, on Thursday, she advocated for the introduction of "respect for women" education in schools and the sensitization of workplaces. She also called for a concerted effort to make Telangana a drug-free state.
Dr Jitender, DGP, Telangana, underscored the significance of understanding global trafficking patterns to effectively combat emerging forms of crime. He highlighted the role of law enforcement agencies in responding to trafficking.
