Kerala: LDF, UDF call 12-hour Wayanad shutdown on Nov 19

Wayanad, Nov 15 (UNI) Kerala's ruling CPI-M-led Left Democratic Front (LDF) and opposition Congress-headed United Democratic Front (UDF) on friday separately called dawn-to-dusk shutdown in Wayanad district on November 19 to protest against the central governments' "ignorance and negligence" towards the Mundakkal-Chooralmala disaster victims.
The central government is playing tricks against the victims and denying them access to central assistance. The hartal is also against the Centre's refusal to accept Kerala's demand to declare the landslides a national disaster, said LDF district convenor C K Saseendharan.
Earlier, Union Minister of State for Home Nithyananda Rai informed the Kerala officials that the Central government did not announce the Wayanad disaster as a national disaster as enough funds were lying in Kerala's State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) for the rehabilitation of process to the survivors.
