KTR slams Rahul Gandhi, accuses Congress of ‘cheating’ BCs over Rs 160 cr census

Hyderabad, Nov 26 (UNI) BRS Working President K T Rama Rao has launched a sharp attack on Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, accusing the party of using the caste census as a showpiece while failing to protect the interests of Backward Classes in Telangana.
In a post on X, KTR criticised the state government for spending nearly Rs 160 crore on the BC caste census only to reduce reservation for BCs when it mattered. He said the Congress government, which campaigned with a promise to allot 42 per cent reservation to BCs in local body elections, eventually approved only 17 per cent — far less than the previous 24 per cent quota.
He alleged that the Congress had “stabbed the poor in the back” by abandoning its commitment after making a grand display of the census exercise. “What knowledge went into wasting public money and finally decreasing BC reservations?” KTR questioned, adding that the move amounted to an injustice to backward communities.
