Sringeri, Jan 12 (UNI) Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar, who visited Sringeri on Sunday, underscored his loyalty to the Congress high command, and said his visits to religious sites were matters of personal faith and not political manoeuvrings.
Shivakumar's remarks come amidst ongoing talks over the political future of the Congress government in Karnataka, with his firm stance suggesting he is poised to follow whatever direction the high command sets. "I will carry out the instructions of the party and move ahead," Shivakumar told reporters here.
He also made it clear that discussions surrounding the CM's position were of no consequence. "The people have given us the mandate to rule, and we will complete the full term. There is no need for any twist in politics," he said.
Shivakumar dismissed his supporters' desire to see him as CM, urging, "I do not want anyone’s support for this. My position is determined by the party leadership, and I will fulfill my duties as instructed by senior leaders."
The Deputy CM further highlighted that his visits to religious sites were "purely a matter of personal faith, not political manoeuvring". He also took the opportunity to discuss the ongoing issue of tax distribution, vowing that Karnataka would fight for its rightful share from the Central government.
As the state prepares for the budget presentation, Shivakumar assured that the Congress would take necessary steps to address the unequal allocation of resources and defend the state's interests. UNI BDN SSP
