Telangana tops in 6th National Water awards, sweeps key categories

New Delhi/Hyderabad, Nov 18 (UNI) Telangana has emerged as the best-performing state in the country in the ‘Jal Sanchay – Jan Bhagidari’ category at the 6th National Water Awards-2024, securing the No. 1 rank for completing an impressive 5,20,362 water conservation works under the nationwide initiative.
President Droupadi Murmu presented the awards in New Delhi on Tuesday to states, districts and institutions that excelled in the union Ministry of Jal Shakti’s water conservation drive. This year, 100 awards were given across categories covering states, districts, municipal bodies, industries, NGOs and nodal officers.
In a remarkable achievement, Telangana swept the top three positions in the District Category (Category 1 – Southern Zone), with Adilabad, Nalgonda and Mancherial winning all three awards and securing a total of Rs 6 crore.
