Widespread rains lash Delta and Southern districts of TN

Nagapattinam, Nov 26 (UNI) Widespread rains lashed the Delta and Southern districts of Tamil Nadu, disrupting normal life since Tuesday morning as the depression over south-west Bay of Bengal intensified into deep depression.
Official sources said schools and colleges in Delta districts of Nagapattinam, Mayiladuthurai and Tiruvarur were closed today, while a day’s holiday was declared to schools in Thanjavur district as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted heavy to very heavy rain at a few places with extremely heavy rain at one or two places likely to occur in these districts.
Fishermen in Nagapattinam, Mayiladuthurai, Ramanathapuram, Tirunelveli and Thoothukudi were advised not to venture into sea for fishing activities owing to inclement weather.
