New Delhi, April 4 (UNI) The Indian men's football team's latest FIFA ranking of 121 denotes a significant decline, marking its worst ranking in recent years. This drop follows a disappointing 1-2 loss against Afghanistan during the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers held in Guwahati last month.
Under the guidance of coach Igor Stimac, the Indian team made strides by breaking into the top 100 last year. However, recent performances, including losses in the AFC Asian Cup 2023 and the defeat against Afghanistan, have led to this sharp decline in rankings.
Despite a recent victory against Kuwait in the World Cup qualifiers, the team's poor showing in the AFC Asian Cup, where they failed to score a single goal and ended at the bottom of their group, has significantly contributed to their fall.
